broken plug

Good evening gentlemen
The plug on my 99 f250/ gas has broken off. Last winter the plug started sparking (scared me lol). Can I go to homedepot and just put a new cord cap on it or do I need to go see my local ford dealer.

Shouldn't be a big deal, on other Fords (sure it's the same for SD) the cord just pluged into the freeze plug heater, so a new cord would fix the problem, might be a common cord, shouldn't be that much regardless. Should just plug into the freeze plug heater, I bet it could be had at the dealer for under $20 and I will go as far as saying that it is a standerd plug for any Ford that has a engine heater, the length would be the only diffrence, but knowing Ford they just wrap it up and use the same cord to save money.

I have put on quite a few ends on heater cords. I think that the outside two wires are positive and nuetral. Use a multmeter to check continuity and wire accordingly. No reason to waste $20 on a $2 fix. Make sure you seal it before you get done. I have used a diemtic (sp) sealer to make sure no water can leak in, causes nasting things to happen! Good luck.
