Transfer Case Question

What size socket does the drain\fill plugs take? Who all runs synthetics instead of regular mercon? Thanks guys! Going to change the fluid tommarow...

I believe the manual calls for synthetic. I use redline.

Manual says Mercon, nothing about syn. what size socket to get the plugs out?

I changed mine to Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. Have you crawled under to see what size socket? If I remember correctly, it does not take a socket. Philip.

I got it changed today as well as the front and rear ends, all the fluids were kinda nasty, figure I will change them again within the next 8,000 miles, rear was salty having to use syn. each quart was $8+ and it took 4 quarts, sure would be nice to use cheap semi syn.
