Engine dying on acceleration
About two days ago, my 81 bronc (351 Mod/ 2BBl) started dying when accelerating. It drives fine on the secondary roads, then go to get on the highway and about 5-10 seconds later it dies. It starts right back up and dies as soon as you try to get back on the road. Sometimes it will fire itself back up while still coasting. Seems like a fuel issue. Friend thought maybe it was rust in the inline filter (changed it and NO) Thought maybe it was full line freeze-up (unlikely and NO). I have been knocking around carbuerator problems or spark issues, but I'm not sure where to start. Any ideas would be great!

Sounds like an intermittant coil problem (check connections maybe) or Duraspark brain going stupid on you. They do that on occasion. The problem could be brought on by excess heat. Heat can and often is caused by loose/dirty connections. I've seen Duraspark brians just up and quit in the middle of the road for no apparent reason. They will often restart after a brief cool-down period. Its early computer technology thats very susceptable to temperature and age deterioration. Not guaranteeing thsi is the answer but its a starting point.
