Oil Heaters

I was looking thru JCWhitney and found 2 oil heaters that interest me and was wondering if anyone had expernce with them. 1st is the type that glues to the bottom of the oil pan ( not sure if it would hold up off road) 2nd is a magnetic one. thanks for your help.

I've always used the "glue" on type. I use silicone on the pad heaters and you will have to use a scraper if you hope to remove it in the future. They should do the job. Good luck.

Have you ever had a problem with the glue on one falling or being ripped off?

I don't see how it could get ripped off.

Take a drive thru a picked corn field some time. corn stalks have been know to punch holes in the oil pan. also the trips in the woods cutting firewood have had things jump up and it parts under there.unfortunatly ford doesnt have a oil pan skid plate in the FX4 packages.

Anything is possible I guess, but short of punching a hole through your oil pan, I think your best bet is the stick on pad. Nothing is bullet proof.

No problem. Hopefully the weather will stay warm and you won't even need to use your heater.

It's just 50 more degrees. Anyway go with the glue on. Also consider one for your tranny.

Some places were it get really cold it helps. I usually do not have that problem. I have (2) 150-watt heaters on my oil pan (one on each side of the oil plug) and only plug them in if it is below zero. They dont get used that much were I live. Check out the tech folder under 6.0 very cold and Twin Triton has a good post on very cold weather. I beleive they even put them on their differental.
