Hello,
I'm out of the supercrew area but thought all explorer owners should know.
I have a friend with a 02 ford explorer who noticed a bubble in the paint on the hood out by the lip that rolls down to the grill.
He took it to a repair shop, after investigation it has been discovered that the hood has rusted through from the under side all along the seam.
The body shop said the hood must be replaced.
He contacted Ford they said they will not cover it because the vehicle has 37K on it.
It is clear to see that this hood has been rotting out since the day the vehicle rolled off the line.
Please check yours!
Open the hood look up into the area where the hood rolls down to meet with the grill.
FYI..
They might have changed to AL. But I think it would be more expensive on Fords end to produce them.
Anyway, My friend is a Ford man and he's very upset. I'm trying hard to keep him from crossing over to Chevy's.
