Today was the first really cold day today up here and the truck started fine but the power steering was very noisy for like 2 minutes. and the truck kept stalling. I know the stalling problem is the IAC I see it is a common problem but i would like to know why the power steering is so loud. It is full and i tried lucas treatment a week or so ago. Any help would be appreciated
Well, the Lucas is really thick and will make it noisy until it warms and thins out a bit.
Mu Mustang does that because I don't drive it enough and the rack and pinion has a small leak, so I filled it with Lucas and it has pretty much stopped leaking, but when it's cold, it will whine and be stiff to turn for a few minutes until the fluid warms up a bit.
I guess 5 to 10 miles a year isn't enough
Well if it gets too bad maybe I will try a flush and fill and where I used to work has a powersteering flush machine and there is also a ford additive that is susposed to help with noisy pumps. Ill see what its like today still really cold out.
