Talking Please excuse the new guy, HP question.

Hello everyone. I now must make the change from the Ford STANG NET forum to the Ford Truck forum. I have sold my( or am trying to sell my 03 Stang GT) and i now own a 99PSD 250 crew cab/short bed. NICE. I remember while watching speed channel awhile ago some PSD HP upgrade that has a dash mounted controler and some type of exuaust temp guage that must be installed. I was impressed with this back when I saw it, but being a stang guy I didnt realy take note. Does anyone know what this was? What do you think of it? I had a preditor in the past and liked it, but i liked t his one because it was mounted right in the cab. Thanks everyone. RICH

I think on "Trucks" they installed the Banks Six Gun on a PSD and when you have that they said that it would be a good idea to install a pyrometer to keep your eye on the exhaust temps but most good power chips have built in gauges so you dont have to go out and buy a cluster..

If you plan on doing towing with the truck get an 3 gauge a-pillar, most guys go boost, pyrometer, trans temp (you should do this also if you put a chip in). Start reading because theres a ton of mods you can do with that truck, alot of different chips, exhaust systems, intake systems.

yeah, that Edge Juice was what i though of first off. i remember seeing that one. i liked it except for the fact it was in a Duraspank. other than that though, looked like a pretty slick setup.

Exhaust temp from a pyrometer is important for any turbo vehicle. Because it tells you the temp of the turbo and you don't want to shut your truck down with the temp over 300 deg F or run the truck at over 1250 deg F on the turbo temp. Shut down above 300 and you risk cooking the oil in the turbo from the heat still in it, and run over 1250 and you again risk cooking the turbo due to the heat being too much for the oiling system and the turbo to handle. And make sure if you are installing a pyrometer you install it before the exhaust enters the turbo or you will have an error of up to 300 deg F in your readings of EGT when the truck is working hard.
