hey i was thinking about buying another pair of 6 1/2 speakers for my 67 f-250 but im not sure if the spot i found would work, i have one pair on my door panels below the door handle (custom of course) but where the vents that bring in air theres a space about perfect size for 6 1/2 speakers but if i cut a hole there would that lead to outside like beside the tire? i guess what im asking is if it would work, or if you know of any other spots i could put some
I had mine in the doors like you did, I'm just going to leave mine there and reinforce the inner door panel, it's really hard to find a spot for speakers in these trucks =)
The kick panels are not as deep as they look and they have some structural metal in there that makes it hard to get anything bigger than a 4" speaker installed. At least that's what I recall from my 69.
I've gone with a custom door panels and 6.5" seperates. Give them plenty of power and a sub behind the seat, and it sounds great! I run an AMP mounted in the seat and small 10" enclosure behind the seat with a portable MP3 player laying in the seat next to me. the stock AM one speaker setup is completely intact and not involved in my tunes!
