2000 Excursion 4x4 V10 XLT. Above 4000 RPM, my battery light comes on, took it to the local Ford dealer and he said that the battery needed to be replaced, had a dead cell. Dealer said the rest of the charging system was working fine and they were able to duplicate the problem in the shop by reving the engine above 4000 RPM. He said the battery should be replaced before winter or it might not start when it's cold outside. Based on the estimate, I decided to get a battery and replace it myself. That said, I replaced the battery this afternoon and my battery dash light stills comes on above 4000 RPM. Can anyone offer any advice?
I run my batterys down all the time and kill them. I've never seen the battery light come on and stay on. Just when you have the key on and the engine off. I would think that you have a bigger issue.
