I have a 200 amp start charger like the one your showing name maynot be the same works good. They make a new one by Vector I think 2/10/35 smart charger and it is really nice check that out.

I bought a Sears Craftsman charger about 5 or 6 years ago that is smaller than the one you show, any way it was in the $50 price range.
It has some electronics in it and a high amp start mode, right after I bought it the thing burned up, started smoking and quit, so I took it back and they gave me another. I went thru this process about 3 more times, some times they would last for 6 months, but then burn up and quit.
Finally they let me apply the cost of it to a better one, that the desk guy said they never had problems with, and I use it all the time without a problem.
My point is that Sears stands by their Craftsman tools, but I sure was getting tired of going back 30 miles to that store all the time.

That charger is sold under many brand names. It has a real mickey mouse rectifier setup common to that brand that burns up easily, -I avoid them.

Are you talking about the ones from Sears or the Schumacher charger? Which brands would you recommend for that style of charger?

I am with Torgue here on that. The best charger I have ever had, not real powerful but super reliable is one called Mitey Mite, I am not sure where I got it or who makes it. I have seen them around, they are carry type but it is super. It is automatic also which is good. Mine gets used a lot and its nice to be able to put it on and walk away. It has no fan to wear out, never had a lick of problem with it. Mine has to be at least 25 yrs old, maybe more. I have bought a couple others in between, gave up and still fall back on this one.

The charger I have is OLD and heavy but it will start a car right up. I replaced the old plate type rectifier with a stud type rectifier used in welders. I have not looked into any new chargers, except a few of those Schumacher units with burned up rectifiers that I repaired. Stay away from the Schumacher units. I have one just like the one in your first post on my bench right now. I can't really tell but that NAPA unit looks like a Schumacher unit but I could only tell if I peeked thru a vent at the rectifier assy.
