Ok, so I just figured out the galleries....
If you want to read or clear codes from a 1994 (and similar model years / vehicles) F350 check out my gallery.
I got pics of the whole steps, and what the heck it looks like...
If you find this helpful, just point others in the right direction....
If you don't like it, or think I need better pics let me know.
Now, if I could figure out how to make a link to my gallery, that would complete my learning curve...
Your pics are good, you really cant get much better unless you get a lamp in there.
Hey, where did you get your name?
You know that one of Stalin's people was nicknamed Ironpants, I think Beria. It had something to do with him yelling at people in meetings for hours on end to keep them occupated. They werent allowed to leave the meetings, so it got on their nerves, but he was pretty ruthless, so they had to keep their peace.
I was on a construction site one day. Early morning. I happened to be working on something with my back turned to an ironworker. The ironworker happened to start up a cut off saw and proceed to rip into a stack of rebar. I happened to be in the direct path of the stream of cuttings/sparks/ etc that were coming off his saw. No better way to describe that then thank goodness for denim.
One guy who seen the whole thing commented how it looked like I was wearing 'iron pants'. The shredding of my pants seemed to disagree.
I made the mistake of mentiong the story to some buddies in the pub afterwards. The name stuck. That was about 13 years ago.
A nickname like that turns the ladies heads in a pub....
Thanks for posting ironpants, a while back you gave me a brief run down on getting the codes, it worked out much better than the method described on the Ford CD-ROM. I used your method again last weekend to cure my pesky code 62
Mine is weird, it has come on twice and both times was when i was driving in the exact same location, the road there is 35mph speedlimit long down hill then flat for just a bit followed by a long, moderately steep up hill (long for a residential road anyway, probably 300 yards). When going up the long hil if I start out around 40-45 mph in od with the converter locked and am very gental with the throttle so that it stays in od and locked up the rps will get down around 1100 with the truck still pulling good and the light will come on. No sign of slipage or any troubles. I have romped on it pretty hard to see if I could get it to come back and it never happened untill I went up that same hill . Dont know what the deal is, but next time I go up that hill I am going to drop it out of od prior to going up it to see what happens.
nogo73 - yeah, the code 62 would (should) only be on an automatic). As well as the code 23 that I find once in a while.
Even though I have 2 '91s I have not tried to pull codes from them, mostly cause they are standards, and have given me little grief in the last few years. As well, I think the location of the plugs is different. Will have to check that out this weekend or sometime.
