Help with DSO id
For example a 66 F100 w/ Ranger Trim Pkg & one of the rare 390s, or a Galaxie Plain Jane car with the PI 406 & T85 or side loading 4 gear etc. . . the special ordered Pkgs some folks somehow were able to manage to acquire.
Anytime there was a Special Vehicle Option and the customer came in for 1863s' if it wasn't "recognized" with the added numbers thru delivering/selling DSO there was no 1863 authority available.
TASCA cars could be a nightmare! They were NOT DSO recognized vehicles. Instead they were built right there at TASCAs' shop in RI. TASCA car could sit for days/ weeks until paperwork or DSO Rep came around and approved or rejected 1863 on it. . . .
It was done to prevent any unauthorized alterations from being carried by FoMoCos' 1863 program once people started bolting over the counter "HO" stuff onto their OEM Stock "family rides". . . . If I ran into an oddity, say a 9" rear under a Falcon Sprint, & had no DSO additional coding, it was a bogus install and not covered under 1863. . .
In the above example, 0055 is a code. I never saw any printed sheet listing what any code meant. The "sop" was to call/ contact my D-Rep, give them the info I had, WRO, DSO, any code #'s, repair operation # & Flatrate time.
My D-Rep would contact issuing DSO for a verification#, if it was out of our district, then issue my dealership an authorization# with which to proceed.
No authorization number = no tickee no shirtee if ya catch my drift. . .
When I was spinning wrenches, I did work on a 57 Bird with a 300/312 "Y". Altho I got paid my time, the dealer didn't because car was supposed to be 245/312, not a Paxton Interceptor. It was 3 years later when they started with the extra code #s, I think. I guess they figured out they were losing $$ fixing unauthorized modifications etc.

Barry
I have seen a few trucks like this and one which I know was local did have my local DSO as last two digits in it...so I would say your DSO is 55 which is St. Louis
Hope this clears things up or at least sheds light on things more...cs65
