429cj/scj

I think I found a complete 429CJ/SCJ motor in a '70 Merc. GT. It has aluminum finned VC, head#s say D0OE-? (couldnt make out). The intake for sure says D0OE. Tranny is a toploader with Hurst shifter. Condition isnt the greatest. Its been sitting for over 20yrs, so it wont turn over by hard probably due to a little rust. If this is truly a CJ/SCJ motor, what's it worth whole? I know you can get $7-800 for the heads alone, but have never seen a complete motor.

The heads and intake are CJ/SCJ, so the whole motor probably is. If the car is in decent shape keep it alltogether, sounds like a rare car. Your right about the price of the heads. The block if it has 4-bolt mains $400+ depending on condition and $100 for the intake. Valve covers $200. It's hard to say about the complete motor being locked up.

429 scj

I have seen complete 429 scj's at swap meets for $2500 to $3000 and I think that the top loader 4 speed with the bellhousing and flywheel would be worth at least a $1000.

Pull the VIN number on the car. If it's truly a factory SCJ car it's a good find.
