Has anyone experienced a buzzing around the console shifter? It only happens when the truck is in drive and setting at idle at a stop. The buzz will go away if you place the shifter in nuetral or 2. Also, the pitch of the buzz will change it you put pressure on the shifter handle. It doesn't buzz while driving, only when coasting to a stop or setting with your foot on the brake.
Would this be able to be looked at under the warranty?
My dealer has been chasing this noise for 20,000 miles on my 2004 SCREW. Coming from somewhere around the console shifter. Happens when truck is warm, idle speed, with foot on brake. Noise goes away if you move the shifter, or start to drive. Almost sounds like a servo motor, but is some type of buzz or humming noise.

Maybe try disconnecting the shift interlock, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t have any power in drive, but you never know. It’s about the only electrical part in there. I’ll look at mine in a bit and see if I have any bright ideas.
I think I have the same problem you guy’s are describing. If I step on the gas pedal to increase rpm a little it goes away. It was acting up one day when I was at a stop light in front of dealer so I pulled in to show them. Of course when the mechanic goes for a ride problem nonexistent. Now they think I’m crazy. I think now I’m used to it so I don’t notice it any more. But I still would like to know. So if anyone has any luck let us in on it.BWEP
I still have mine, was waiting until my next oil change to have the dealer once again try and find this vibration. I do have the panel off on the drivers side foot well, and when I hear the buzzing, I can feel it in the shift cable. This leads me to believe it is the cable itself vibrating against something (firewall, etc.). I have told this to my dealer, but they continue to come up with other ideas (heat shield, catalytic converter) The problem is I can't see from the inside of the truck where this cable goes, and as soon as you open the hood, there is too much noise to hear the buzz on the outside. Anyone else discover this on their truck?
I had a similar problem and had my center console all taken apart and put back together to no avail. Eventually I found the source of the noise (in my case) to be the ashtray. I don't even smoke!! Anyway, when I open the ashtray all the noises go away, when it's closed, it makes a light rattling sound.
You beat me too the punch. I have this as well, but only when the truck has sat over night and it is cold outside. This noise is more of a rattle in my case, not a buzz noise and is easily tracable to the ashtray.
NSDQ3, LEGOLAMB, BWEP all describe my problem exactly. Very warm engine, cool day, in Drive, foot on brake at a stop. Moving the shifter a little changes the pitch. Putting a load, like power windows, on the engine changes the pitch. My sound is coming from behind the instrument panel, I do not have a center console. It is definitely a buzz, not a rattle.
Guys, check your ashtray door to make sure that's not it.
When the truck is in drive with your foot on the brake, the torque converter loads up the engine more and the whole truck shakes more. This is just enough to make my astray door rattle if it's shut. The spring is just too weak.
Mine has the very same rattle or hum. I do have the center console and it is the ash tray. I carry my mail box key in there and one day while setting at the stop light it started making a noise and I very easily laid my finger on the ash tray and it quit.
I made a post about this last year took it to the dealer they changed out the
ashtray did not work . Then they tore the center console apart said the sifter
cable was out of its bracket. Well that wasn't it so if anyone comes up with
anything let me know. My son who is 13 has good hearing seem to thank it's
coming from the dash. Warm truck in drive cold outside just setting still. Well
it's nice to know someone else has this going on.
My 06 super crew also has this problem, and the noise/rattle/buzzing sound seems to be coming from the ashtray. The noise stops when I put a finger on the ashtray but starts up immediately once I lift my finger off of it.... Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to fix this problem because the more I think about it the more irritated I get about the noise. Until this point I've been just cranking up the volume on the radio so it blocks out...
