I was wondering if anybody out there in the forum has attempted to replace their ball joints, front lower, on their Expedition themselves, avoiding the almost $500 at the stealership? I was told the parts themselves are fairly inexpensive, approximately, $50 a piece and that the labor is where all the cost comes from. As usual... Anywho, information would be greatly appreciated.
I think that if you search in here and in the 97-03 F150 forum you'll find some info on doing the job yourself. It's not too difficult but I'd recommend that you have a manual to look at if needed. You'll need a 36mm socket for the axle nut, 21 mm for the tie rod end and upper ball joint, 24 for the lower ball joint and a ball joint press which you might be able to rent from a parts store or tool store.
