Hi Guys and Gals,
I have a 1982 Bronco w/351, yesterday I pulled into the driveway, running good, then when I stated to leave, the engin will only run as long as you keep the key in the start posistion, let it go to run so the starter kicks out and the engin dies.
I checked and I have power at the coil, both sides, Help Please.
Tillery
The electrical ignition switch possibly could be going for a vacation... its under the sterring column on top and is connected by the leakage rod of the backside of the key ignition switch, there is two bolts that makes it adjustable, and it is sometimes a bear to get to and adjust correctly, but it does sound like it could be in need of replacement.
TFI module has a start circuit and a run circuit in it. Change that and it shoudl fix it.
I'll never forget this after working ths problem for 3 days in blizzard conditions.
( TFI module is the little grey box looking thing mounted to the distributor. It is easier to change also if you buy the little special tool that fits in to the screws just right)
