I know there is a current thread about the silverstars and have seen no negitives other than Life expactancy. just wondering if the stock switches and wiring can handle the extra juice without a melt down and any negitives about them. I just want to make a good informed decision.
My stock headlights seem to end about 10ft in front of my hood. I do have to say I can see the ditches really well and they are very bright but don't seem to throw the light very far out in front, heck I'm almost afraid to drive over 50mph because I'm over driving my headlights. I am seriously considering these silverstars. My 2003 F250 will needs the 9005s for the head lights and the 9007s for the fogs, is this right??? Also where's the cheapest place to buy them (Walmart????) and how much for a pair.
the silver star 9007's are the same wattage as the stock ones so there is no more current draw then what is in there now (no more stress on the wires plugs ect.) the 9005's however are higher wattage then the stock blubs, i have had mine in for about 3 years with no problems(i have the fogs on when ever my headlights are on). yes 9007 for head lights and 9005's for fogs.
I agree - the high beams on my 2005 are also poor. I asked my service advisor about putting some Siverstars put in and she said not to do it. Said if any electrical problems occured that they would not be covered under warranty if there was any hint the bulbs contributed. I think she was just trying to scare me. If they draw the same current as stock lights why would they cause a problem??
SLE if you are concerned about overdriving your headlights, have you considered auxillary lighting? I have a pair of 9" LIghtForce lights on the front bumper of my Excursion. They are low enough so as not to incur the wrath of the law and their height restrictions (which we don't have up here) and they DEFINITELY throw out the light! You can't possibly outdrive these lights...your vehicle won't go fast enough! These LightForce lights turn night into day for a good mile ahead of me showing me all the bumps, dips, critters, road trash, and other hazards in plenty of time for me to avoid them.
