I have been told that between the years of 1992 and 1996 the C6 trans was an option in the F150 work truck model. Can anyone confirm and point me in the direction where I can print this out (need it in writing)?
I do know that in 1995 the C6 was avaialble in the F250HD/F350 because I had the choice of it, the E4OD, or the 5 speed manual with overdrive when I ordered my crew cab. Page 20 of the F-Series brochure listed the C6 as available in either 2 or 4 wheel drive. It does not show it as available for any F150 or light duty F250.
If you do want to put one in your F150 I do not see any reason why you could not. You may, though, have trouble finding correct linkage & driveshaft components. In fact, you may need to fabricate some of these. I can only recall only seeing a couple of trucks from this era with the C6.
If you find an F150 you suspect might have a C6 in it, the C6 was Trans Code 'G' on the VIN/weight sticker on the driver's door. You can also indentify it by counting the bolts around the oil pan, there are 17 of them. My F350 has a C6 in it, 1992 model, and the only option my truck came with from the factory.
