I have a 2000 that I am able to play CD's that I have burned. I can't speak for the 05's, but I would be very surprised if the 2005's were not compatible.
Are you expecting to pull a travel trailer? I assk because of your "name". We pull a 30' travel trailer with a 2000 4X2 v10. The total combined weight of the truck, trailer and family loaded for a week's vacation was 15,180 LBS. It pulled it at 70-75 MPH all day long. We went to South Dakota this past summer. Not a single problem! I think you'll love the X.
"Burned CDs are not necessarily encoded as MP3 files. Mot CD recorders' programs write the music files as files that are compatible with most CD players. Most CD players DO NOT read MP3 files.
I do not believe that the radios in question have MP3 capability...or it would be boasted about as a feature. An example...my '03 Cobra has the 6 CD unit and it does not play MP3s. Other Mustang models offer a different head unit that will play MP3.
The 05 is NOT MP3 compatiable. I just got my 05 this week and it is exactly the same as my 03 was.
I just built myself an '05 on ford-vehicles and one of the options was a 6-disc changer with mp3 compatibility.
My '04 6-disc changer isn't mp3 compatible, is it? Personally I'd rather have a single disc mp3 player than a 6-disc standard player.
