Installed my hard Diablo power valve today, but happened to take the wrong assembly out, so since I already had one out I decided to pull them all, went and got 3 super stiff springs to go inside of the stock ones and made my own Sonnax setup, my springs are at least twice as stiff as the Sonnax's springs. My power valve is the race model, it's .500 in size. This setup should be unreal, I hope to get it put back together Thurs. and find out, should be interesting....
^^^^^^^I'm still laughing!!!!!! I can't wait to hear what the girlfriend has to say lol Something tells me that the power valve is already to big, and the fact that I installed the extreemly stiff springs inside the stock accumalator springs is kinda crazy, everyone told me not to get the hard valve, something tells me I am going to at least have to take the springs out. Good thing I bought alot of ATF.......
I Guess it will depend on what you do. I put the firm valve, and am happy with the gains for what i do. you can notice the shifts are more definate and less "slid" in at slower speeds, and when you stay on the gas it shifts firmly. I tow a 24 foot car trailer, so i was worried about how the hard valve would shift under load.
As for replacing all those springs ... i dont know what all the different ones do ... the same thing? I wondered that when I was in there myself, does it matter which one i replace, do they all do the same thing? I just replaced the One indicated as i didnt feel like going back in there myself.
It is nothing like I had in mind, it shifts like it should from the factory, not so much hard, just quick, it doesn't cherp the tires, just cherps the belt, going to get a Goodyear Gatorback belt on the way, nice firm shifts in every gear, probally a little more then some would want at WOT but driving around town is perfect, not hard at all, just quick and sharp, if it was any less I would be unhappy, this is perfect!!! It cherps the belt HARD on WOT 1-2 and still very hard on the 2-3, which is impressive since it's at 75mph, with the new belt it will be great. A must do in my book, I could do this whole thing in under a hour with no power tools in my driveway if I had to do it again, theres nothing to it.
