I've been searching for a life lit to lift the front end 2 inches. I am sure this is a very common thing on the early 90's 1/2 ton. I would like to know how to go about it.
I herd from my local suspension shop that with either new coils or spacers i could get the lift. Then he would have to do the alignment on it.
Or should i mail order from skyjacker and install myself?
I would get the springs from any one of the lift kit manufactures out there and install them yourself. The front springs are real easy to install, just remove the shock and the top bolt that holds the clip in place that holds the spring in the upper mount and pull the spring out so you can remove the center nut on the bottom of the spring. I have bought them from rough country lift kits they sell a leveling kit for f-150's. You will need to get an alingment after the springs are installed but you should know that you might have to replace the shims or what ever they are called for the upperball joint to get the amount of adjustment that will be needed.
I got a set of heavy duty springs at AdvanceAuto $66.00
Went to get alignment and they wanted an extra 150.00 to install shims/concentrics
and could not finish until installed. I could not afford it so they (Sears) gave me the
part numbers. I bought them at napa $25.00. Alignment has 6 month warranty so they
told me to come back after I installed them and they realligned it free.
