Question Steering columns

I have an 85 F-150 with a regular column no cruise auto-overdrive,and i want a tilt column, i have a chance to get a column out of and 86 Bronco, tilt with cruise, and overdrive! I was wondering if it is the same in length, and are there any difference in the wiring, with the cruise or can i just change the harnesses?

I swapped an '82 F250 tilt column into my '84 without problem. Talked to a couple guys here (Ford garage) and all seemed to be of an opinion there should be no difference between the big Bronco's and the F-series. Many shared components.

IIRC the cruise is a seperate plug you can use or not. Make sure the donor lower shaft is tight, darn expensive to replace!

Why not grab the cruise while you're at it?

May as well grab the cruise....since you have the wiring there anyways, hooking it up will only add a bit of value to the old truck, especially if it works, and may add options for out of town driving at a future date.
