You might want to check with a Ford dealer to see if the 2 wd diesel truck uses the same springs as the gas. If it's different, that may be the way to go.
SLC 10844 your saying if the diesel springs fit, it will level it, or raise a little? And has anybody done this. I would rather do this than get a front body lift which consists of a Poly spacer.
Only if they are different. The diesel engine is much heavier than the gas. Ford doesn't use different springs in the 4X4, but I'm not sure about the 4X2. Back in the 50s & 60s manufacturerers used different springs for different engines applications and even sides depending on equipment. Using big block Chevy springs in a small block body Chevelle would raise the front end considerably. You knew the springs would fit because they were for the same body just different application. I guess they were more sensitive to selling a level vehicle than they are now. When I get to work today, I'll check and post for you.
I checked with the dealer today and they only list by spring code on the door placard. They did say there were more listings for the 4X2 than the 4X4, which kinda indicates they are different due to body and engine application. You might want to check with a shop that specializes in spring repair and replacement. They might have listings according to spring rate and recommend a spring that would raise the front enough to level the truck. You don't want to go with a spring that would raise the front and not allow a proper front end alignment.
So once again he wants\needs longer coils and new\droped allignment brackets, probally cheaper to go aftermarket, if you really want a idea of what 1-2in. taller coils will look like go to Autozone or your car parts store and buy the cheap\nasty coil spring extenders\reducers, they go in between the springs and you raise the bolt to space them out, scaping out the coil and raising the truck, doing this will make you see just how bad of angle the front wheels will be in, using just taller coils will burn the outsides of the tires clean off, just some things to think about...
