Another Block Heater Question

Hi Guys ,this Is My First Diesel So Bear With Me.

How Can I Tell If My Block Heater Is Working?? I Thought I Would See The Temp Jump Up At Start Up Instantly But It Does Not. Is There A Spot On The Motor I Can Touch To Check The Temp?

I Also Have Access To One Of Those Infrared Heat Sensor Guns ,will That Help?

Thanks D

with my truck the glow plugs barely cycle before its ready to start when i use the block heater. if i forget to use it, it takes a while before the glow plug light goes off and then it doesnt run the best when i start it up.

One thing you can do is check to see if the block heater is drawing current. You can check the house electrical meter before and after plugging in and see if it sped up at all.

If it is drawing current it is likely working.
