It may be fun, but in the process you trash your clutch, tranny, diff, u-joint, tires, etc. Not recommended.

hey beast,

with an automatic, you could sit there, put it in neutral, gas it up and throw it in drive. This is pretty horrible as far as how the transmission handles it, it's painful to sit through.

Or you could just push on the pedal on the left real good, while firing it up with the pedal on the right. And when you're good and ready, you leggo of that left pedal., and stomp on the right pedal. Hopefully you'll get something out of it!

great!

i highly un-reccommend throwing it into drive. I was just naming ways it's possible.

Good luck, and be safe. Burnouts in front of the police station are a big no-no

I strongly recommed no one ever try that. I did that once in a friends Blazer (yes, I know it's a chevy, but still...) and I blew out the tranny. $2000 is a very expensive burnout.

BUT WAIT, there's another smart idea! Hold the brake and gas! So, now, you're not only torquing the driveline like it's never been meant to do, but you're overheating the brakes too!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be annoying or offend anyone, but an F150 is not a sports car. It's purpose is to haul your sports car around!

Hey 4.2manster, just wondering why are you doing burnouts in your truck? You know that you have the M50D which isn't the strongest tranny out there. I have the M50D behind a 300 in my 95 F150. I changed a clutch this past january with 125k on it at the time. I changed the clutch because the slave cylinder started leaking. So while I was there I just changed the clutch. Mine still had plenty of of life left in it though. It had some slop in the input shaft of the trans also. I dunno how old you are but im 22, and I can do burnouts with my truck, but why? Just ended up breaking more parts and going through tires faster. Im sure you think close to me in that we both want trucks that are fast. But they arn't. Just trying to speak some words of wisdom from those of us that have been there. Worst thing is when your daily driver is broke because of something stupid you did with it. Leave the burnouts to the mustangs, I've finally come to realize that. Fred

Fred,

Thanks dude. But I'm not doing any burnouts. I don't think I ever have. I know my truck can do them, and i've peeled out pretty hard a few times, through second and grabbed in third, but I always back off. Why? I just don't think it'd be um...in my best interest to sit there squealing with a cloud of white smoke. Plus I'd rather not buy tires right now, they're balding though.

Yeah, i'd love a faster truck. And i know mine's not that fast. The power to weight ratio is just rediculous. But i do know that they can BE fast, if you build it to be that way. I'm just trying to get a little more pep over stock.

If i wanted to, i'd burnout all day long. Garrett (horizonhuskies) used to eat up GT's when he was blown, Tom (Busa01) was squeezin' down the quarter-mile, and a handful of guys are either blown or turbo'd. I'd burnout if i was bone stock, if I wanted to.

I was just telling 'the beast' how to do a burnout. I'm sure he can figure out that it's not good for his truck, since that isn't exactly a standard thing you do while test driving, and you don't normally ask the dealer if a certain car will "light 'em up pretty good" If he still can't figure it out, well, we've told him how bad it is.

I'm 24, by the way. That means i've been burning out for 2 more years than you. I have also known how bad it is for 2 years more than you. But I have no idea why my age or yours has anything to do with this. A 16 year old and a 40 year old can both equally wonder about burnouts.

and Crazy, this post is for you too. I don't take you as annoying or offensive, but this is how i feel, and where I'm coming from. You seem awfully opinionated, which is your perogative, but you don't have to bash others in the process of making a point.

Ford manual transmission "clutch belt", as you wish!

NEV-R-WEAR transmission band linings:

Contemporary "blinker fluid" (well, head and marker light fluid) would either be kerosene, or the water dripped on lamp carbide.

Ahh, but to the true enthusiast, anything is a potential sports car as long as you have the money and know-how. I don't care if you drive around a friggin' 3-cylinder Ford Aspire with 12" wheels...if you wanted I'm sure you could make it a 10 second car with enough money put into it.

But, I see your point...a truck is a truck, not a Ferrari, so treat it like a freakin' truck!

On a side note, I had to tow for about 80 miles yesterday with a couple hundred pounds of stuff...obviously a very easy tow...the truck did great!
