4X4 again!!!!!!!

how much noise am i supposed to get from the front diff?

i am currently staioned in Fort Drum NY, i purchased the truck in the month of april so there was no need for me to use the four wheel. as we all not tis the season to be snowing, so i went to lock the four by and BAM!!! nothing so i went to the tires and had to lock it manually. it been about two weeks since i started using the four wheel drive and it just seems to get louder and louder.

it's my first 4X4 so i really don't know what to expect

i don't know if i should take it to FORD or what, i really don't feel like paying the dealer even if its just for the test drive or what ever they call it...

i think highway robery is what they call it

any how thanks for any help

Well there is a drone that comes from the differential. I don't know what you consider loud, but it is very noticable.

I don't know what you mean by "BAM". Did it pop?

What kind of noise/sound?

Sometimes when the hubs are not locking all the way or are defective they will make a grinding noise.

Have you checked the fluid in the diff?
