Mixed Emotions

14 months and 17.5K miles I've owned my loaded SuperCrew FX4. I have mixed emotions about the truck. It's vibration free but I did change the rear clutch pack on my limited slip rear end. Other than the crack in my windshield (thanks to another Ford) the truck has been trouble free. Here are MY the pros and cons:

Cons
1. It's a 5500 ilb dog that can barely get out of its own way (my T100 had better acceleration)
2. The rear end still slams hard under acceleration and I hit a bumb or after coming to a stop on a hill and accelerating.
3. In town fuel mileage 12.5-13
4. Not so quiet under acceleration
5. No lighting around ashtray
6. Center console not far enough aft to access when driving (come on...you do it too)
7. 34 large and no dead petal (shame on you Ford)
8. 34 large and the cheapest set of mats known to man kind (double shame on you Ford)
9. Radio controls on steering wheel reserved for Lariet (with that ugly wood trim...yuk!!) give me a brake!! Speaking of brakes...
10. Braking is barely adequate
11. Did I mention the terrible Ford brake dust. What a joke!!
12. Did you ever try to use D1 and D2...forget it, neither work for normal driving.

Pros

1. Ride is very good
2. Very, very quite once at a steady speed
3. Steering and handling are quite good for such a large vehicle
4. Bucket seats with center console are very comfortable
5. My wife dislikes trucks but loves riding in this one.
6. Power sliding rear window is fantastic
7. bitchen looks
8. HWY mileage has been almost 19MPG at 75-80 MPH

Thanks for listening!!

I also own an FX4 screw. In response to your post:
Your cons:
1.Could be a LITTLE faster, but for the weight, it's pretty good.
2. No slamming here
3. Never, ever calculated mileage on any of my trucks(I expect them to be bad)
4. Mine's quiet.
5. ?
6. No problem here
7. WTF is a dead pedal?
8. Mine are HEAVY ribbed rubber, hardly cheap. Are yours different?
9. That would be nice.
10. No problems w/ braking whatsoever. Very good. But then I drive an E 350 cargo van w/ 2000lbs of equipment all day.
11. Brake dust? Have you looked at any BMW, Mercedes, etc.? They cost more than your 34"large" and have the same dust!!(get Kleen wheels)
12. You drive manual w/ an auto??
Your pros:
1. I agree, ride is EXCELLENT!
2. Ditto.
3. Ditto again.
4. I also find them comfy.
5. My wife will drive when she has to, but likes her(yuk) Jag(also lots of brake dust)
6. Agree
7. Mega ditto.
8. No idea.

In all, I definetaly LOVE the truck, I would put it up against any car or truck, foreign or domestic.Always keep in mind w/ all your cons, it is a big, heavy truck(not a car or "full size" t100(which I'm sure, the F150 would CRUSH in a literal head to head))

Sorry, just couldn't resist replying!

to your cons:
1. Mine has no problem getting out of the way
2. mine doesnt slam
3. partially agree
4. mine is quiet also
5. im a smoker but dont use the ashtray so doesnt bother me
6. i like it where it is now, perfect for me
7. have not a clue what you mean by dead petal
8. if your talkng about the floormat,s i can agree with you there. easy fix tho, gt a new set
9. dont have lariat so not too worried about that
10. mione brakes real good
11. can agree with you on that, but that whjy i got kleenm wheels on mine, no more brake dust
12. D1 and D2 not meant for normal driving so why try?

pros:

1. ill give ya a h@ll yea on that
2. yep but at all times
3. ditto
4. yeppers
5. not married so truck all mine
6. i got manual so have no clue on that
7. oh yea
8. for the most part yes

But then again, mine is the xlt so would be slightly different than the fx4

A dead pedal is a slanted area on the left side of the driver's footwell to rest your left foot on. Sort of a foot rest for the left foot.

Thanks TestPilot. I've only seen them on foreign cars. Who needs it anyway?

Forget the dead pedal...give me a clutch pedal!

With a 5-spd.

And a diesel under the hood.

Santa...you listening for '06??

4 to 5 months and around 6k miles I've owned my SuperCrew XLT. It's vibration free. I'll sum it up:

Questionable Cons
1. My last car did 0 to 60 in 6.5 sec, and sometimes this truck feels quicker
2. No rear end slamming
3. I've never checked miles per gallon
4. Loud under acceleration, and the louder the better (with mods)
5. What ashtray?
6. What center console?
7. Don't require dead pedal
8. I have layers of floor matts (Kids you know)
9. Radio controls ...........work fine
10. Braking has been fine
11. Brake dust. My husband cleans it
12. Did you ever try to use D1 and D2...Yes I used it going down steep grade and it slowed everything down nicely without creating so much brake dust

Pros

1. Ride is very good, agree
2. Quite once at a steady speed and acceleration stops
3. Steering and handling are quite good for such a large vehicle, yes
4. Bucket seats with center console are very comfortable, NA
5. My husband dislikes trucks but loves riding in this one
6. Adjustable pedals are wonderful
7. bitchen looks

5 months, 4500 miles to date. I guess everyone has their pro's and con's.

Con's
1- Wife often wants to drive truck and leave me with minivan..very not cool
2- More space taken up in the garage, kids ride bikes in there between my truck and Cobra. Also very not cool.
3- I almost slipped and fell on my **** while cleaning the roof from in the bed.
4- New truck = opportunity for cool mods. Very costly endeavor for me!
5- People at work now wonder how much I make since I have 3 vehicles, one of which is a new my $25k rig. Boss less inclined to give raise.
6- Dorky neighbors ask me to move stuff for them now with the truck.
7- I like my vehicles clean, but this one just seems to gravitate to mud.

Pro's
1- I now have the truck and car I always wanted. My cool factor has peaked.
2- Big pimpin truck look's awesome parked at work in the BACK of the lot
3- I don't have to look like a dork at Home Depot loading the minivan with lumber anymore.
4- I was a small part of helping ensure the future of FoMoCo with my purchase.
5- 5.4 3v motor, 300hp. (insert Tim Allen manly growl here)
6- Biggest and most comfy 4 door full size cab around. Love the space.
7- Smooth as glass tranny
8- Nice big console, holds my laptop to play DVD's for the kids on long trips. Just get an inverter!
9- There has been a flurry of accidents with deaths in our area. My wife and I feel we are totally safe in the S'crew.
10- Only $13k left and she's all mine!
