How difficult would it be to transplant the engine from an 87 F250 auto 2wd to an 84 F350 4x4 that was originally a gasser? I've done several gasser-gasser swaps and understand the mechanical part of it, but never a gas-diesel swap, and don't mess with diesels a lot, so I I don't think I'll necessarily understand the electrical as quickly as the work part. This is a glow plug motor. Thanks guys
Scott
Well once you get it in there you will need to change the fuel tanks too from what I understand. You will have a donor right so that you can get the entire wiring harness.
You will be using a few four letter words and pulling some hair from time to time, but since you have both trucks you will be able to do it.
The diesel tranny has to stay with the diesel motor.
The entire fuel system has to stay with the diesel.
The radiator will probably have to stay with the diesel, you may have some problems with the radiator supports.
The electrical is not that bad, you may have to swap some dash parts though to get all the warning lights for the diesel.
Look at everything on the diesel real close before you unhook it, pictures can help you remember where it all goes.
