going from e4od to c6

going from e4od to c6

I know that the e4od is counting down, and im not 100% about putting another one in. I dont want to go the zf route, but may look at a c6. What do i need to know to replace the e4od with a c6, Its a 1992 F-350 Crew Cab. Will i need a different driveshaft, different column shifter, etc.

Will I also need a c6 from a Diesel?

Don't go that route just give your e40d a quality rebuild and a lpd oil cooler and it will last a long long time. Synthetic also helps too. The biggest problem with the tranny is they overheat and start to burn out all the seals so make sure you keep it cool. I have a c6 on my 89 and I like it but wish I had the e4od because I cant go to fast without straining my engine at high rpms. I was looking to change to an e4od, but you have to change the mounting locations for the tranny and I think shorten my drive shaft (e4od longer if I remember) you also have to convert your injection pump to have the vaccume harness on it instead of electric to control tranny shifting. from there just some linkage and a few vaccume hoses and you would be set.
