Winter Thermostats????
Its -10 degrees celsius (14 degrees F) here in Ontario. Engine temp guage barely goes over the lower normal line when running hard for a couple of hours. Heat is fine. Cools off real quick after parked for an hour. I'm chokin on the smoke! It was running clean in the fall. Should I change the stat? How long should I warm her up before moving? 94 250HD 4X4 Auto 7.3 Non Turbo

Any more than 5 minutes would be wasting fuel as it will heat faster driving. These engines will not heat to running temps at idle.If you can get the loan of a point and shoot temperature tool..........check the coolant temp at the top of radiator after 20 minutes of high rpm or towing. The temp should be 195-237*F.
Sounds like you may have an air leak into the fuel system, done any work around the return lines recently or filter change.
