Got a wierd problem guys...

My truck is now trying not to start on me. It turns over really strong like nothings wrong, but it just won't start. After about 4 tries, it starts right up.

Just so you'll know before I get "started"...hehe

2003 F150 4.2
16,000 miles
Everything's still freakin' new man!
Only engine mods are MAC Intake
Also have Diablo chip, and it's been pinging (I think) the last couple of days...hasn't done that before unless I put the wrong gas in. ??? But I have ran 93 octane forever now.

Ok, I haven't even tested the thing yet to see what it is because it just started today at lunch time. I am going to check and see if it's the connection with the chip first. If it's not that, I'll have to check my start switch.

I have the kind of truck where you have to push a button for about a second to get the truck start. It's kinda goofy and annoying, but it came with it and I can claim a theft package with my truck!

I'm thinking it's one of those 2 things. Yes, it has a half tank of premium gas Briana.

Any other suggestions? If anything I'll take it to Ford under warrantee to get it looked at.

Joe

Pinging, could be bad gas. Try another stations premium.

Well guys, this stupid problem came back, so here we go again.

But, I got it fixed! It turned out the fuel pump relay was screwed up...Ford fixed it and now it works perfect! So if you ever have this problem, check the relay!

I am now having the same problem with my truck. a 2002 F150 4.2 with about 18k miles on it. It will crank and turn over without a problem, but it just won't start. I can let it sit for about 15 min and it will start up fine. Other times it's starting first try without a problem. I'm hoping that my problem is the relay also. I'm going to have my local mechanic check the relay for me tomorrow. I'm hoping that is all it is. I'll let ya know what I find out.

Angry

Well, I took the truck to the dealership on monday, and while they were checking it out, the fuel pump died on it. They have had it since then. Every day I call, they seem to come up with some excuse as to why the pump has not arrived yet. I'm gettin kinda .... well you know . At least the pump is still covered under warranty.
