98 Ranger Door Switch
Have any Ranger owners had problems with a door switch resulting in the dome light usually remaining on. It may be just me...but I can't even find the door switch. The door ajar light is not on all the time, bet periodically (getting more often)it remains on even with the doors shut. My quick solution was to pull the light bulb. Anyone with a better idea?

There are two micro switches per door. You can use WD-40 on the latches and that will clean the switches or you can remove the swithes and replace them. THey cost around 7.00 per switch from ford. You have to remove the door panels to get to the switches. I have heard many people say it is just easier to spray wd-40 on the latches. The only problem I have with that solution is it may cause more problems in the long run because wd-40 will attrack dust and junk up the switches even more.
You can go to www.mechanicmatt.com and clink on the FAQ's for Dome Lights. This is the same fix for you. I tried this site and the FAQ's seem to be down so you may have to wait a few days to view that site.
