replacement cat converter........
need to know if any one produces a direct replacement aftermarket CAT converter for a '96 ranger splash, with 4cyl 2.3 with a stock header and muffler? I called the dealer and they want $549.00 I ain't paying that for a converter. I'm looking for a direct bolt on replacement.

You might check into the warranty on the cat. Federal Law requires like a 5 year 80,000 mile warranty on emission systems.
You cat may still be covered. Call ford again and ask about the warranty on that cat.
As far as direct replacement, you probably won't find one. JCwhitney.com sells universal ones for under 100.00

THANK YOU GREENPUS!!!!!! I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID FOR MY PARTICULAR TRUCK (1996 RANGER XLT) THAT THE LAW SAYS 8 YEARS/80,OOO MILES. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW, YOU JUST SAVED ME $549.00 THEY ARE REPLACING FREE IT WITH NO WARRANTY DEDUCTABLE. IM GLAD I FOUND ABOUT THIS NOW, BECAUSE MY TRUCK IS AT ABOUT 78,800 MILES. YOUR A LIVE SAVER. NOW I CAN AFFORD TO PUT A NEW CAT BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM ON IT. ANY SUGGESTINS ON WHICH ONE TO PUT ON IT, HE HE HE. THANK YOU
