Line-X'ed my Bed Today

Well, I was able to get the bed sprayed today and it looks really
good. I also purchased a can of there protective coating and
spent the afternoon wiping the bed down with it. I used about
half the can today and will apply the second coat tomorrow.

I want to keep it nice and glossy so figured I should spend the
extra money and buy the can of gloss. THey will spray it on
for an extra 100 bucks, but I don't have the extra 100 bucks.

Anyways, I can appy it pretty thick this way..

One thing.. If you can make sure you get all the leaves and
anything else out of the bed. Wipe it down if you can since
they don't do this at all. I had water spots in mine and wish
I had wiped them out first, but I guess it will not hurt anything.
If there's anything in the cracks remove it.

Also, on both the left and right hand side of the bed there are
two lines that run down the bed. They are really small and have
an in-dentation so make sure they get them, they kinda missed
one of mine a little bit and it didn't go all the way in.

Two.. Make sure they don't fill in the holes for water to drain out.
There right behind the driver and passenger seats. The right one
on my bed was filled in. The left one is ok.

Just some things to consider.

If you want.. Pay the 100 bucks and have them use the UV. I'm
doing mine by hand and it's a pain, plus they remove the screws
before spraying and I cannot remove them witout air.

Dear Lorenzo,

Thanks for the tips.
For the price, I would not be happy with a sloppy installation.

One advantage of Line-X over some of the other brands is the durability. I haven't seen a Line-X liner fade and turn chalky like some of the other brands sprayed from softer material...

Congrats!!!

I had my Line X sprayed in about 3 months ago, you won't regret it. It wears like iron. I keep a tote box in the back for odds & ends, it slides a little but only under heavy braking. It might really slide around if it were treated.
I have a Truxedo LoProflie cover so I'm not worried about fading. I think this the best combination you can get if you aren't getting a cap.
Best of luck!

I wonder if anyone has ever Line-X'd their whole truck. Seems like it would a great idea for serious off roaders

I was just at an off-road show here in AZ and they had a wannabe chevy trophy truck that had the outside bottom 1/4-1/3 of the truck sprayed with bedliner material (not sure if it was line-x). The truck was already black but it looked pretty darn good (granted it was on a chevy mind you). I've also seen guys get the inside of their rigs sprayed with this stuff too, looks great and stands up pretty well to the rigors of wheeling. We use it in our enclosed trailer (s) as well, alot easier to clean the floor after a weekend at the dunes! Just hose it off and it's ready to go!

I've seen the bottom half of trucks done. I have one friend who had the whole interior of his jeep done and the exterior of his camper shell done.

If they didn't clean the bed before the install I would be P-Oed. To me that just me crappy workmanship. I checked with the guy who did mine and he cleans them with solvent, to remove any contaminants, that way he knows the stuff will stick.
He said they used to sand them down but it didn't help the durability.

Go to the GOLINE-X SITE it should have been wiped with a grease and wax remover, scuffed...and it's spray time!

Well the Line-X is installed and looks very nice. However, I do have a question.
What is the purpose of the 2 rubber fittings/plugs, at the front of the cargo bed ( the end closest to the cab )?
The reason I'm wondering is the shop covered them with Line-X.

I would say to run power wires to the back if you had a camper shell or something of the like. They're just giant grommets. I can't believe they sprayed right over them, sounds like they were kinda lazy since they pull right off of there.

Did they pull the bolts out of the bottom of the bed and the tie down loops or did they spray over those too?

Thanks for the info.
I doubt I'll ever need to remove the rubber pieces. If I do, I'll get the Line-X dealer to touchup any damage to the liner. However, it does seem to be poor workmanship.
Thankfully, they did remove the 4 chrome tie downs, which are part of the Harley Davidson appearance package.
They said they couldn't remove the 8 bed bolts because they didn't have an impact wrench.
BTW, they charged $435 for an under the rail installation on my 6.75' bed.
