Fan clutch problem ???

I'm wondering if my fan clutch is working properly. It's cold here about 38. I just replaced my fuel filter and started the truck to check for leakage. At idle I noticed the fan moving very fast. I shut the truck down and turned the fan by hand and it was very stiff. I then checked the clutch fan on my 89 bronco and it turned freely.

Any help here would be very appreciated!

Were either of the engines you checked just turned off at operating temp. That is when it should move freely.

No they were both cold. I didn't check it at operating temp.

Get your truck to operating temp and then shut it down and check it. It should move freely then. I would think the Bronco clutch fan is not operating right. I had that happen on an 85' T-bird and had to replace it. It was overheating in the summer.
