wipers no working

I have 87 XLT with 200K and the wipers stopped working.
I searched the posts and read about what to check but it's still a little
confusing. I am getting the loud clicking noise when i put wipers on slow, medium and fast click less.

I replaced the wiper motor I'd say less than 5 years ago cuz of same problem, starting to think something else is wrong. The other posts suggest my wiper switch on the column is the culprit, is there any way to easily test that the switch is causing the issue?? thanx in advance, -ALF

Sounds like a bad governor. It's above the parking brake with a 9 wire connector.

Turn the wiper switch to low & check for 12 volts from the governor on the white wire at the wiper motor. If there is 12 volts, replace the motor.

If you dont have 12 volts, remove the connector from the governor & connect your ohm meter between red & brown/white stripe. If you can open & close the circuit by switching from off to low or high, the switch is good & the governor is bad.
