Hey guys, I don't know if you guys know about this, but I found a source for dash inserts for our trucks. You can go to www.dolphingauges.com and check them out. It is a 5 gauge cluster. I don't know about how it is to install, but I thought it was a great way to mount aftermarket gauges and a tach.
I think this would really look good in my 79.Theres not much in the aftermarket for dash products for these trucks. And I wonder if you have to use there gauges or get what ever ones you wanted

It's cool to see someone actually start manufacturing this kind of stuff for our trucks. I think there'd be a huge demand but there just aren't many options. The one problem I do see with this panel is it appears to be flat. Our dashes are angled down which is why the stock guages are angled back up. I'm not 100% certain on how these are installed but if the guages or the panel are not angled up you will not be able to see them well at all. When I built my dash I opted to tilt the entire dash panel up a bit and build new brackets to hold it in that position for easy viewing. I suppose you could do the same with this if you wanted to.
Ivan I just looked at your dash in your gallary.Thats an impressive piece of work.I have an extra dash.I"m going to try and work something out.Any does and don"ts
Don't attempt it without beers. The big thing to look out for is the angle of the dash. I had the option of moving the whole dash forward or leaving it as is and angling my new panel. I opted to just move the whole dash to keep things simple. If you pull the 2 side bolts and the 2 over the steering column you can play around with it and get a feel for what's right. This doesn't take too much do to. I went a little bit overboard with my project but that's the way it always happens. It's in my truck now, just waiting for a few finishing touches. I got impatient and wanted to drive the truck around so I've got a lot of stuff just hanging right now. I'll probably have the dash all blinged out in a week or so and then I can snap some pics to show the finished product all installed.
i think ivan earned 9 out of 10 blings for that one, very nice, ive been thinking about something similar, but i might use treadplate, never thought about bringing the CD player out closer, thats trick, i dig it.......
