I have a '95 XLT long bed which is definitely sitting lower in the left rear. I suppose leaf spings do go bad, but is this the likely cause? If so, where is the best source for new ones?
They get "sacked" from carring too heavy of loads for too long periods of time. If you carry a huge load, always try and unload it that day and don't let it sit in the truck for days at at time. You don't need to replace your springs, just get them re-arched. Usually around $200-300 at a local shop in your area.
I just replaced them for my 95 over the summer. They was $220 from Jcwhitney, I got free shipping also. You have to watch and see when they're running those specials. The ones I bought have 5 leafs and the original ones had 4. Mine would sit fine empty but even my 550 lb fourwheeler would squat it. I put on new rancho rsx shocks and that really seemed to help but it wasn't enough so I did the springs. So far I've been very pleased with them and the truck definately ride a lot better now. 4wd f150's have 3" wide springs. F250 3" wide springs are dirct bolt in as well. I can't see getting the used springs re-arched when you have to remove the springs anyways and for the same money you can have brand new ones.
Kista, has a point about new vs. old. But if you get your old ones rearched they will be just as good as new and still be factory Ford equiptment. The more ford stuff you have on your truck the better, without being too picky like some people are!
If you really wanna go cheap and not spend $200-300 then just get some air shocks and air up the back end to what you want. Help with loads too but won't be like new or rearched springs will.
I just had my F150 4x4 towed today...broken left rear springs too....I had no Idea untill they lifted the rear end up with a sling. It was not even sagging on that side.
