I'm shopping for used 7.3 PSD's, noticed that ocasionally people will post VIN's here and get the shop history for a truck...any further info on doing this would be greatly appreciated, as in who might do this, or who may I contact to do a search.
A buddy of mine buys and sells a few cars/trucks a year. He did a search on the web for VIN look-up, or something along those lines, and found a web site that for about $20 a year, they will give the history just from typing in the VIN. Sorry I can't give the exact address, hes out of town.
TRY THIS to go to CarFax, the most used site for this information. You can buy one at a time or, as posted above, a membership.
Every so often you can find a free carfax available through any number of sites offering auto services of some sort. I have CarFax reports on all the vehicles I own except the newest (2000 MPV we bought a month ago). It goes into accident history, mileage fraud possibilities and a bunch of other stuff. I ran one on my F250 a month after someone hit it in the parking lot at Flying J and the accident was there.
Thanks guys...I didn't ask the question clearly enough tho...was looking more for information on finding mantainence/warranty work that may have been done within the Ford system. Is it possible to go to a Ford garage and have them do a search on a trucks VIN?
Though I haven't had to frequent a ford dealership in a long time, the wife's chevy is in the shop seems like every other day. The chevy service writter printed out the whole history on that POS upon reguest when we considered lemon law action. You might just ask the service dept. at a ford dealership for a print out.
OASIS, LOL
Owning that thing has been the farthest thing from an oasis. I'll give you one guess where I got that 'great' GM feeling, and it wasn't great. Quite painful as a matter of fact.
