I have a 1995 F-150. It has the stock 302. Here is what I am in the process (almost done) doing. I am converting to 4x4, straight axle convesion (1979 reverse rotation Dana 44 w/ 4.56 gears), rebuilt AODE tranny and converted it to accept a t-case (t-case off a 1994-1995 bronco without slip yoke rear drive shaft), installed 1979 Ford 9" with 4.56 gears in rear, about 10 inch lift in front (6" lift coils, also moved top coil buckets down 4 inches) and 8 inch lift in rear (6" lift spring, 2" blocks). I have the rotors installed on the rear 9" for the disc conversion and I am trying to figure out what kind of calipers to run. I want to have an e-brake (can't talk me out of it and don't want line locks of t-case brake), so I bought some rebuilt 1978 Cadillac Eldorado rear calipers. I was wondering if anybody has tried these and if the e-brake holds very well? The other thing is I don't know where to get the e-brake lever or spring because the calipers don't come with these parts ( I have already checked every salvage yard in my area and all the part stores). If anybody has any info on this brake setup, I would appriciate your advice. Thanks
How hard is it to keep the e-brake adjusted? Also I am I going to have to switch anything such as my master cylinder or other things? Or is it just bolt up the rear calipers, bleed them, adjust e-brake and go?
You won't have to adjust it very much, after 1/8 " of pad wear, it will need adjusted.
You will need a master cylinder & a proportioning valve. Try Master Power Brakes they make good parts & are very knowledgable.
Can you give me some approximate measurments on the size of the pads and piston diameter on the eldorodo calipers? I can't seem to find any calipers anywhere, but I can find 90 camaro rear calipers which have a e-brake bracket - different spacing for the caliper pins, but I'm not sure they are big enough in size for this application
Thanks
Corey
