Cruise Control problem

I have a 94 Ranger with a 3.0 engine. I notice today when I had the cruise on and stepped on the brake the cruise cut off like it is suppost to. When I took my foot off the brake the engine would pickup speed again without touching the gas pedal. I could cut the cruise off with the button and everything worked fine.
Anyone got a idea on where to start??

If I understand you, it goes back to the cruise speed by itself. About the only thing I can thing of is it is getting a constent "resume" signal, maybe a bad switch or wiring.

Yep, goes back to cruise speed by it's self. I just checked and I have no brake lights and the fuse is ok. Would a bad stop light switch cause this?

thanks

As long as your foot is on the brake, theres no vacuum to the CC servo, thats why it shuts off.
Fix the brake lights & you will be good to to go.
Check the brake light switch with a VOM.
