The Aerostar used in the oil commercial, was for Castrol's "hi mileage" oil, when it first came out. I remember seeing an Aerostar used on "Cops" or "World's Wildest Police Videos", in which the driver abused it, while trying to run from law enforcement. You know, the chase scenes shot from a helicopter, at the speeding van, and 42 cruisers in hot pursuit. The Aerostar would not quit, even after bottoming out at a high rate of speed, from dips in the road. These losers kill me, however. If you think you are going to lose a helicopter hovering above you, with three 5,000 watt candle spotlights shining on you, I don't think one will be successful. i can spot an Aerostar all the time on TV or the movies, even a partial shot of one. I see them all the time in movies from the late 80s and early to mid 90s too.
That remake of Freaky Friday with Jamie Lee Curtis: In one scene the daughter's garage band packs up their stuff and heads out in a red Aerostar with stickers all over the back window.
The Jan 13th episode of "Close To Home" had a Green Aerostar. Everything was Stripped from inside it, But there was lots and lots of Blood inside. It was used in a crime. They just kept calling it a Green Van.
Turning through the stations tonight I came across a movie on Lifetime called "Identity Theft: The Michelle Brown Story" The main Girl was driving an Aerostar. I think it was an AWD. Didn't watch the movie, Only a minute or so of it.
wish they would bring back the Ford sponsored FBI series from the 60's and 70's.....we could watch them drive around in Aero paddy wagons then....got tired of all those bench seat plain jane Galaxy's and Fairlanes with the clear vinyl seat covers
Just saw the first Spiderman movie again last night. There was a red Shorty Aero that stopped on the bridge in the beginning of the bridge fight scene towards the end of the movie.
Craig
hehehe just found this neat old thread when searching forum for "rear bucket seats". I don't watch tv or movies much but maybe some of you could add some newer Aero sightings to this list ??
