definately use 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the truck will bounce all over the place with only one.

ford put two on the front of the truck, you should do the same.

sorry for the smartazz remark, but you asked!!!!

now the serious answer...... if your building a mall crawler, get dual shocks. if you want it to ride better, use one. one is fine for O/R use as well. i beat my truck.

good luck

This question does not amaze me, but the fact that the SAME QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED only 6 or 7 threads down..........

I know using the search function is a lot of work and all , but at least read the tiltes on the first page.........sad...very sad......but amazing none the less.

Sorry, I wasn`t clear on the number of shocks, 2 vs 4. I did do a search and really didn`t find alot, and what I did find was info on f150 or f250/f350 with gas motors. I did read the post a few lines down, but it seams that most post get a few answers and then they go off on another direction. I was hoping to get some more replys from people who have the psd and either 2 or 4 front shock info. I know I`m asking dumb ? , I`m only trying to learn from those who know more. Again I`m sorry!

I would go with the single. The double might ride to stiff for you.

I have dual 7100s on my PSD (soon to be changed out to dual DR reservoirs). The 7100s are generically valved at 170/60 and while they ride better than the Rancho 9000s I used to have they still don't ride as well as a shock valved specifically for the SD (the 170/60 has too much compression valving with not enough rebound for what I would like).

I'll give the same info as the other post, it comes down to personal preference. I'd start with one and see how you like it first. If you feel that you need another shock then spend the money on the other two and the shock mounts or hoops.

It's also going to depend on what shocks you use and how they are valved.

If you want the best ride possible with your leaf springs a single bypass shock per corner would be the way to go....but they are expensive. That you can can fine tune them to perfect the ride.

If you do end up going with duals up front, I've heard of guys using dummy shocks, one funcitioning shock and the other with no guts, more or less there for looks. Seems like a waste of money to buy a shock and not utilize it's functionality but whatever.

DC hit the nail on the head though, bypass are the way to go (if they're in your budget). Then you have full absolute control over your ride.
