My accelerator is a little sticky but only when accelerating from a complete stop and even then only sometimes. It causes problems sometimes when taking off at stoplights, etc but I can avoid it by goosing the pedal just a little before taking off. Then it runs fine until I have to stop again. Has anyone else run into a similar problem?
My '95 seems to stick a little when the pedal is at the top. I too only notice it when starting from a dead stop when my foot has been off the pedal. I haven't had a chance to find out where the problem lies, it's not bothering me that bad yet. :-)
most likely it's the slack in your accelerator cable. if you pull on the cable at your throttle pedal or your throttle body, you'll see it-Ford designed it that way so the throttle body wouldn't ever fully open(safety reasons i think). if you want to eliminate it, you can either hang some fishing weights from the cable at your throttle pedal or put some spacers between the spring on the cable and gas pedal.
I'm pretty sure thats not it. When I open the throttle by hand after taking off the cover I can feel a definite catch. I tried a little wd40 but it had no effect. It's not too bad right now, maybe because I'm used to it but if it gets any worse it'll be a problem. I guarantee that anyone borrowing my truck would notice it.
