Just died.

My 94 explorer, manual trans. just died this morning. When I went to restart it, it would turn over but not start. I played with the clutch pedel a second (in and out) and it finally started. I know there is a switch on the clutch assembly some where that won't let you start the engine without the clutch being in.
Can they go bad, or does it sound like something else.

Thanks,

PS, new to the group.

The clutch switch is not the problem.
When you turn the key to run-not start= do you hear the fuel pump for 2 seconds?
I've resurected a couple of dead fuel pumps & gotten home by giving the gas tank a good whack with my hand. So if you dont hear the pump try that.

If you do hear the pump, check for spark. If theres no spark, a prime suspect is a bad TFI module, you can remove it & have it tested at Autozone.

Welcome to FTE!

Be futher aware that there are two relays in the power distribution box that can fail resulting in your problem (constant problem or intermittent). They are the EEC and the fuel pump relay. Cost is around $5 each. Sometimes you can snap them with your finger and get it working (temporarily).
