I replaced mine with a Gibson cat-back. The only problem is removing the factory exhaust pipe from the cat. It required much heat and pulling and tristing. I have heard of others using a Dremmel tool to remove a rivet to make it easier.
It's NOT 2005 yet, why did Ford insist on calling the 2004.5's a 2005? Most aftermarket companies wait until there is a market for parts, usually a year after release.
Howdy
My girlf frend has a 02 escape she went to the local mufler shop and had a 40 seres flomaster welded up. it came out really clean i think it was $ 250. Made a huge difrence combined with a K&N filter sounds prity cool too
I can only find a Magnaflow that officially fits my '05. I'm concerned that theirs creates a lot of noise, whereas others, like Gibson, offer lower noise configurations. Anyone have any better info?
UPDATE: I found Gibson, Borla and Magnaflow catback exhaust systems available at www.motorhaven.com. None of the items indicates which model years they apply to, so I will contact them for more info.
I ordered the Gibson cat-back for my '05 Escape 3.0L today from the link above. I called them to confirm the fit with the '05. I'll probably have my mechanic install it.
The Gibson exhaust is on and it's very cool...er...HOT! I can definitely feel the extra HP and it seems like my fuel economy is a bit better, too, though I'll know more at my next fillup. It makes a nice low rumble, not too loud.
