Easy C6 question...I hope

I have a freshly remanufactured C6 installed in my pickup. I just installed a Lokar shifter but noticed that on the shifter rod which comes out of the tranny's side and works the parts of the valve body, I'm missing a nut. Ordinarily I'd just replace it with another nut but having seen how it works the valve body I get the idea the nut has to be tightened in a certain position for the tranny to work. Hope I didn't lose anybody there. Basically there is a rod which houses an inner rod that is threaded and missing a nut. It looks like some kind of lock-out or detent in the valve body. Anybody know what I'm talking about and what I need to do to fix it? Thanks for your help and time in advance!

Thats the kickdown link, hooked up or not it won't affect the transmission operation. It only is used for full throttle downshifts and should be at full stroke when the throttle is wide open.
