alignment not possible?

I am having no luck aligning my '91 x-cab 2WD Ranger. It's lowered 6 inches in front and about 6.5 inches in the rear. I had 2.5 degree camber/caster eccentric bushings before so I thought I'd try the 2.75 to alleviate the fouled up caster, no freakin' luck. If I can't resolve this it's gonna be time for a 2WD lift kit. Any response or assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you have dropped I-beams? These are supposed to solve this problem.

People who say it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it.

Just be sure that if you take it to have it realigned, the people who do it know what they're doing. I took mine to Firestone and they had to put on camber/caster adjusters. They took 5 hours and never solved the problem. They put the wrong sleeves on it, and now it drives terrible. Problem is, now they deny messing it up. Angel

alignment not possible?

I used to do alignments a couple of years back in a shop a couple blocks from a firestone. This sounds like the typical Firestone deal. I can't remember how many of their blunders we had to fix. There tires were still junk back then also.

alignment not possible?

Thanks for the responses. I have 3" dropped I-beams and 2" lowering coils. I do the alignment myself at work. The last time I did it was about 9 months ago, it was difficult but it was perfect, took about an hour and a half. camber was negative and symmetrical, caster was almost to exact manufacturer specs, steering wheel was on center and it didn't pull to either side. I also installed 2.5 degree bushings at that time. This time however it wouldn't align so I tried the 2.75 degree bushing, no luck. Now my wheels are @-.1 camber and caster is symmetrical but too negative and it wanders aimlessly. The roads around here are terrible so maybe Ill just replace everything and eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a month or two. Thanks in advance for anyone else that has some input.

alignment not possible?

I just thought I'd write back and let you know that on our Broncho II, my front end wanders like that, too. If I hit a bump, the truck jumps to one side or the other. It's kind of scary. The camber/caster adjuster sleeves they put on have some kind of pin that's supposed to set into the groove?? (my husband told me this), and the pins aren't set, so the bolts loosen on their own after time. Last time we checked, my front end was wobbling on my way home. When he lifted the truck, the tires were able to be pulled back and forth and side to side. Does any of this make sense? All I know is I can't afford to get it done again, and Firestone's work is a joke!! If you have any ideas of how to explain to my husband how to fix this, please let me know. It's gabbygal1972(No Email Addresses In Posts!). I'm just tired of feeling like I'm riding in a horse and buggy. This truck drives so rough, you could lose your fillings. Thanks again!! Angel
