14 Mpg ?
I just purchased a 00 F-250 5.4L 5 spd 4X4. I was kind of suprised to get only 14MPG. Up hill or down, city or hwy. I used to get 12MPG out of my 76 f100 390 4brl automatic. Kind of hard to believe that with all the technology, the mpg hasnt changed much with the trucks ....... or does everyone else get better mpg ??

crz, I agree with you. Improvements? HA! My v-10 is underpowered (stock) for an 'advanced' engine. Took $1,500 in mods to make it run right. I had a 71 Merc Marquis with a 429. That engine, with a good fuel injection system, would stomp the crap out of the triton. It would probably get the same fuel mileage, too. 14 empty, 11 towing a #4,200 boat.

I have a '04 F-250 SD Ext. Cab 5.4L long bed with 4.10 LS. Think I am getting poor mileage? Does anyone get similar numbers? At best I have seen 12 MPG on a long 300 mile trip. Other times I am lucky if I get 11 mpg. With each tank of gas I try to be easier and easier and figure out what works best to get the most mileage. I only have 3,500 on the truck. I keep hoping that it will get better when it is broken in.

I have the same truck except it's a reg. cab and I'm getting the same gas milage so I don't think anything is wrong with your truck.

Over the last 4,234 miles I have gotten 14.172 mpg. That being said I've pulled a 10,000 # trailer for about 1,500 Miles of that!! If you take out the times which I know I pulled it the most my mileage goes up to 15.737 mpg!! But it's a 01 smoker!!
