Contacted a custom chip maker. He said no problem with the chip, however from the cam specs (I sent him the spec sheet) it didn't look to him that it would need a chip to run this cam (35-230-3) with a mass air set-up. He said to try it first because he thought it would work fine without any additional tuning. We WILL see. Tom
Lobe sep is THE major factor in whether or not a cam will work with a SD efi system. The lower the lobe sep the more overlap you have with the intake and exh valves being open with is what gives you the typical lope in a race engine. Fuel injection doesn't like a "lopey" motor and will try(unsuccessfully) to smooth it out and it will run like crap. The higher the LS to smoother idle you will get because there is very little overlap with int/exh valves. Make sense. Anybody who doesn't agree better do some more homework. 35-255-5 is a good choice.
I thought the same thing, until I talked to a custom cam provider....
Its not the lope that causes the problem....its the camshafts inability to provide a certain level of vacuum at a certain point in time......I have done my homework....
